Industry Space Days 2022
Irish companies from a variety of sectors are engaged with the space industry to develop technologies with uses in space and other high-reliability industries such as automotive and aerospace. Lios is one of many such Irish companies developing its products for space applications.
As part of our engagement with the sector, Lios is attending the ESA Industry Space Days at ESTEC in the Netherlands on 28–29th September. We were invited to attend Industry Space Days after coming in 2nd place in the Upstream category for ESA’s Global Space Markets award. As a part of winning this award, Lios was given the opportunity to showcase our SoundBounce –- our smart acoustic material – at Industry Space Days and the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Dubai in 2021. IAC is the world’s premier space event – bringing together decision makers in the global space community to exchange insights, discuss advancements, and collaborate.
We are exhibiting at booth C22 and look forward to meeting our customers, collaborators, and industry colleagues at the show. If you’re attending please drop by our booth or reach out here to set up a meeting.
Our advanced smart acoustic material, SoundBounce, is used in automotive, aerospace, construction, and home appliances. Since January 2021 Lios has worked on contracts with the ESA, developing and testing new acoustic components for inclusion in future launch vehicles through the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme. Our product, SoundBounce, works to improve the acoustic environment in the launch vehicle fairing, reducing the noise and vibrations within the rocket – using our patented innovative material. SoundBounce is high-performance, thin, and non-toxic, – enabling an increase in the size and mass of satellites launched by ESA.
Space technologies have integrated seamlessly into our lives. They enable services that we rely on daily such as location services, satellite-based media services, and weather forecasting, to name a few. Historically, governments have been the early customers of space technology. However, recently there has been a paradigm shift with hundreds of startups popping up in the space technology industry, leading to a significant, growing private sector.
The ability of Irish space-active companies to exchange technologies between space and non-space sectors, where technology synergies exist, will be vital in developing a sustainable and agile industry. We look forward to exhibiting alongside other leading Irish space companies such as Réaltra and Enbio at ESA Industry Space Days.
